Credited as influencing numerous bands like Metallica, Deep Purple continues to rock with a summer tour, which will be making a stop at the NYCB Theatre at Westbury on July 26th. In today’s society, where true rock n’ roll is falling to the wayside of autotune and former Disney children, class acts like Deep Purple are a treat to see live. They helped pioneer the heavy metal genre, forging a pathway for not only the aforementioned hard rockers, but for most of the more recent heavy acts we’ve come to know and love over the past fifteen years. Had it not been for the vision that the guys in Deep Purple had, the world may not have been introduced to the joy of low-tuned riffs and heavy melodies. The opening to “Smoke on the Water” has become one of the most recognizable riffs in music, to this day; not to mention, one of the heaviest riffs ever written.
You can catch Deep Purple on tour this summer, with dates listed on their official site. Experience what rock n’ roll is supposed to be!
