Def Leppard, Styx and Tesla Give New Jersey a Feast of Classic Rock

by Lori Milchman

It was a classic rock extravaganza for all as Def Leppard, Tesla and Styx played the PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey on July 25thtesla-colour75a

Taking the stage first was Tesla with a setlist including two of their bigger hits “Signs” and “Love Song”, the crowd eagerly signing along.  Keeping the flashback vibe going next was Styx.  Tommy Shaw and James Young held their own, flawlessly playing through the timeless “Sailing Away”, “Lady” and “Fooling Yourself”, bringing a sense of a bonding of all generations in the audience. There was no doubt in anybody’s mind that this beautiful night was only going to get much better and deeper into this rock fest.

As it approached the nine o’clock hour, the night sky became illuminated by the lights of the stage and the crowd geared up with beers in hand getting ready for Def Leppard to take the stage. Before we knew it, the guitars got loud and there they were, all set to entertain. They started off the night with “Rock Rock” followed by “Animal”.  Favorites “Foolin’” and “Love Bites” came shortly after. The crowd went crazy as they played hit after hit; obviously Def Leppard came to please their fans. Playing “Hysteria” and of course, “Pour Some Sugar on Me” before the illusion of leaving the stage for the night. Then yes, the encore commenced as they dazzled with “Rock of Ages” and “Photograph”.

After a completed night of rock and roll and music history, it was a great time for every generation in attendance. Tesla, Styx and Def Leppard etched a music print in our memories that shall not be forgotten.
