There we were on the grassy hill of the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, dead center stage which was set up with his numerous acoustic guitars, round bulb lights adorning the top of the arch above the stage glimmering shiny silver & blue. I’m in an awesome spot as the lights go down to the crowds loud roars as Dave comes onto the stage in only the way Dave Matthews can. He’s a bit tipsy (I’m guessing) as he shouts “I’m in my thermals” over and over in a silly accent! Then proclaims to crowd “Hurry up and finish your wieners the show is going to start and you don’t want to miss it”.  He then strums his guitar acoustically to the cords of “Spoon”, his show opener. There is this wonderful happy presence that Dave has that just captures you like a deer in the headlights you can’t break free from his wonderful slightly raspy singing.

The venue is packed (I mean packed) with every die hard Dave fan within 100 miles! Though hot, humid and muggy, no one seemed to care as he played on with such songs as “Stay Or Leave”, “Spaceman” and What Would You Say”.  The music was infectious as Boyd Tinsley, who never disappoints, played an amazing violin; the talent just blows you away. Rashawn Ross played a kick ass trumpet! His solo in “Ants Marching” blew me away. He owned that stage like no one I’ve seen before! The packed house didn’t stop singing, dancing and chanting the entire night! There is just something magical about seeing Dave Matthews live that you can’t quite put into words, you just have to experience it for yourself! As “Lover Lay Down” played, the crowd sang along so loud that it overshadowed Dave’s voice entirely.

After a brief intermission, the lights went down as the rest of the show went on with, “When The World Ends”, “Be Yourself”, You Might Die Trying” and “The Space Between”.  “Ants Marching” (a personal favorite) was his last tune of the night, which got every fan singing at the top of their lungs. I have to say, it was a great way to spend a Wednesday night!
