Who doesn’t love to be entertained? It’s a great feeling leaving a show saying “That was amazing” and Puscifer provides its fans with just that. On April 9th, 2016 The Paramount Music Hall in Huntington, NY was host to this unique collaboration that warrants a listen from everyone looking for something fresh and unique.
The show’s opening act, Luchafer, is a highly energetic group of entertainers performing what is known in Mexico as “Lucha Libre”, a form of professional wrestling. (yes, a wrestling act opened for a band) Attendees with VIP passes got the chance to sit onstage ringside to watch the action. The athleticism and aerial acrobatics displayed are impressive. Even those who aren’t big fans of wrestling can appreciate their exhibition of talent. I was pleasantly surprised.
After the incredible performance by Luchafer, the curtain closes and the packed house waited briefly for what they knew would be an exceptional experience. Keeping it simple, Puscifer leaves the wrestling ring on stage and adds microphones both in and out of the ring. Brilliant! The eerie dark blue set lighting, fog and visuals throughout the show add to the already well-documented mystique of the band.
Led by singer Maynard James Keenan (Tool, A Perfect Circle), Puscifer delivered a solid show playing crowd favorites like “The Remedy”, “Telling Ghosts” and “Vagina Mine” with Luchafer performing again in between sets. It was an amazing show.
Currently, Puscifer is on their “Money $hot-Round 2” tour. If you get a chance to see them live, do it. Check out their schedule on their official site.
