There are concerts where the band/artist comes out on stage, performs their songs, addresses the crowd here and there, packs up and leaves. Sure, those shows can be entertaining; you may leave satisfied enough, hearing one or some of your favorite songs. These are stock shows…and there is nothing wrong with them. P!nk, however, is not an artist to be put into this category.

P!nk brought her “Beautiful Trauma World Tour” to the NYCB Live at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on August 16th, giving Long Island a show that is the perfect example of what a concert should entail; acrobatics, aerial stunts, pyros, dancing, a solid band and just-about-flawless live vocals.

Opening the show with “Get This Party Started”, off of 2001’s Missundaztood, the 39-year-old Pennsylvania native dangled from a giant chandelier, displaying acrobatic moves reminiscent of a Cirque du Soleil performer; all while showcasing her incredible singing talent.

P!nk kept the crowd entirely hypnotized as she showed off her impeccable voice and aerialist moves through hits like “Beautiful Trauma”, “What About Us”, “Try” and “Just Like Fire”. During a mellow interlude (well, as mellow as P!nk can be), she sang beautiful renditions of Cyndi Lauper’s “Time After Time” and an acoustic version of her latest hit “Walk Me Home” off of Hurts 2B Human. One of the main highlights included P!nk being launched around the Coliseum, via suspension wires, during the post-breakup anthem “So What”.

P!nk is the type of performer where it doesn’t matter what music you are into; her show is not one to be missed. People from all ages and all walks of life were in attendance, which is exactly what she stands for. P!nk can be your favorite rock star, favorite singer, favorite dancer/acrobat or favorite pop star…she is truly an all-encompassing artist.
